The wolf that has been a protection hunt in the Rackstad region has been shot. The wolf was taken yesterday morning and this means that the protective hunting cull is now called off.
The hunting team had applied for a protective hunting cull on the whole region because of several attacks, but the county administrative board granted only a limited hunt.
“The hunt leader waited to hunt for a time when there were good conditions with tracking snow and so on. They went out yesterday and were able to shoot the wolf quite quickly,” says the local government’s nature specialist Urban Mossberg to P4 Värmland
The wolf should now be taken to the State Veterinary Office where it will be necropsied.
Now the county administrative board will make an assessment and see if it is currently necessary to hunt more wolves.
