UK: Wolf pack moves into Bristol attraction Wild Place

By The Bristol Post

FIVE European grey wolves are making Bristol their home.

The wolves, all young males, have come to The Wild Place Project from Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland.

They are now living in the new Wolf Wood exhibit at the attraction just off junction 17 of the M5.

The area of woodland has been left as natural as possible to replicate their native woodland habitat in Europe.

A new, log cabin-style shelter has been built for the pack with two separate sleeping dens for the wolves.

Will Walker, animals operation manager, said: “The wolves will be the first carnivores at the Wild Place Project, which will be very exciting for guests and staff alike.

“We have a young group, which should be active and fun to watch throughout the whole day.

“With a ranger situated within the guest-viewing ‘woodman’s hut’ there will be opportunities for visitors to learn lots of fascinating and exciting facts about wolves.”

Visitors to The Wild Place Project can see animals from Madagascar, east Africa and the Congo and find out how it is helping to conserve them in the wild. Guests can also take a stroll in the woods, relax in the Tower Meadow or have fun in the undercover Fun Fort.
