WI: Group hopes to bring back wolf hunt

In recent years, mid-October marked the start of the wolf hunt in Wisconsin, but a ruling by a federal judge means the animals don’t have to worry about being shot or trapped this year.

Wisconsin Wildlife Federation director George Meyer says that’s unfortunate, because it means more hungry wolves will be roaming around.

Meyer says a bipartisan bill in Congress would effectively reverse the court decision, and allow wolf hunts to resume.

Republican Congressman Reid Ribble of Sherwood is working on the proposal, and it could come up for a vote later this year.
