Wolf Public Hearings Next Week

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) public hearing dates on two proposed rules related to wolves will take place next week. One rule is to list the Mexican wolf as an endangered subspecies while delisting the gray wolf and the other is to improve recovery efforts for the Mexican wolf in the Southwest.

The hearings will take place on Nov. 19 in Denver, Colo.; Nov. 20 in Albuquerque, N.M.; and Nov. 22 in Sacramento, Calif. Each will include a short informational presentation. The USFWS has also added a public information meeting and hearing in Pinetop, Ariz., on Dec. 3. The comment period deadline was also extended until Dec. 17 to allow these hearings to take place within the public comment periods on the proposed rules.

A formal notice of these hearings is available in the Federal Register at and the extension of the www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-10-28/html/2013-25390.htm.
