WY: First wolf hunt area closed

Wyoming’s second wolf hunting season opened Tuesday in the northwest portion of the state.

Wolf hunt area 10, southeast of Jackson, has already been filled and closed when a hunter killed one wolf.

Hunters are required to report the kill within 24 hours and within five days must present the skull and pelt to a game warden, biologist or other Wyoming Game and Fish Department regional office for registration.

Outside of the northwest corner, no license is required to kill wolves. Hunters still must report the kill to a district game warden, district wildlife biologist or department personnel at a Game and Fish Department regional office within 10 days.

To report a kill, or verify if a unit is still open, call 1-800-264-1280.
