Gray wolf Hunt Area 9 closed at 2:10 p.m. Monday in the Crystal Creek hunt Management Unit in the Jackson area. Hunters killed the area’s limit of two wolves. Areas 4 and 6 are also closed.
Trophy hunt areas close when the mortality quota is reached or at the end of the season on Dec. 31. As of Tuesday, hunters have killed 28 gray wolves in Wyoming. The total limit this year is 52 wolves.
Wolf hunters should pick up a copy of the 2012 Gray Wolf Hunting Regulations and call the Gray Wolf Mortality Quota Hotline 800-264-1280. Information on hunt area closures and quotas is updated daily.
Any wolf harvested in the Wolf Trophy Game Management Area or the Seasonal Wolf Trophy Game Management Area must be reported by calling the hotline within 24 hours and the pelt and skull must be presented by the licensee within five days to a game warden, wildlife biologist or Game and Fish regional office for registration.
