On Tuesday the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is set to collect public comments on a plan that could end federal protection for Wyoming wolves as soon as next year.
The comments will be collected at a meeting in Riverton.
This summer Governor Matt Mead and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar reached an agreement on a plan to turn the management of Wyoming’s wolves over to the state.
Under the agreement Wyoming would classify wolves as unprotected predators that could be shot on sight in most areas.
