WOLF / TT
A migrant wolf male assessed as particularly significant for the Scandinavian tribe has been killed in Trysil, according to the Norwegian Environmental Protection Agency. The animal has previously been sighted in Jämtland and Dalarna, Swedem.
The wolf was a Finnish-Russian and could have contributed new genes to the present population.
“The wolf had a particular genetic breeding value and could have been a very important contribution to the South Scandinavian wolf population,” says Terje Bø, section head at the Norwegian Environmental Protection Agency on its website.
A Norwegian man in his 40s is suspected of unlawfully killing the animal.
